Hello and Welcome

I am an artist who writes and takes photographs and I have a passion for beauty and creativity. I create travel adventures and family portraits.

As a child growing up in the solitude of the countryside, writing and art were my first interests. At 14, my parents took me to Verdun Gorge in France, and I borrowed my mother’s Yashica SLR. The camera was stolen at school but not before I had created several albums of portraits of friends, of trees, of animals and landscapes. At Edinburgh University I constructed my own MA course of Renaissance European Literature and History – perfect for the writer I wanted to be. I started my career as a writer for Time Magazine in Paris in 1998. Returning to London, I started working for The Independent, The Telegraph, Tatler and Harper’s Bazaar and various other publications, taking my camera along on assignments, interviewing celebrities and writing about travel. Photography demanded centre stage for me and absorbed as much training as I could, working with leading photographers and studying  with Central St Martins, then embarking on the challenging discipline of wedding photography to develop my skill.

Now my passion is writing and photography, melding in the rich cultural themes that I absorbed on my explorations. To create your family portraits, get in touch via the contact page or on 07977 538424

Please note that I formerly traded under my maiden name of Fiona Campbell, and following my marriage now trade as Fiona Campbell Hicks.

Mission

I believe that Love is Beautiful. Someone once said that Nature is the Divine Presence in the world. By its very essence, nature is beautiful, and so are we when we are close to our own true selves. My work aims to serve by illuminating, uplifting and encouraging people.

I aim to make Fiona Campbell Photography as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible, sourcing recycled and renewable materials wherever possible.

5% of profits go towards supporting the wonderful Cardinal Hume Centre which does such great work in turning around the lives of homeless young people and to Actionaid, probably the most effective and targeted of the international development agencies.

“I did a ‘portrait’ photoshoot with Fiona […- she] made me feel the most beautiful woman alive and the results were absolutely gorgeous! I was a little nervous and Fiona made me feel utterly relaxed and not at all self-conscious, coaxing some really lovely shots out of me. It was a really fun day too —starting with a professional hair and make up artist session to get me ready for the camera, and a series of shots in all my favourite dresses. Highly recommend!”
